About Newman Album
Please sign in to see more.
This website has been put together for the Newman Family Reunion which will be held at Mildura Victoria on 22 and 23 May 2010. To keep this first reunion relatively small we are inviting the children and partners of Frederick Logie Newman, Dennis Edward (Ted) Newman, Marjorie Grace White, Coral Helen Ray, Betty Harilda Lipscombe, Heather May De Prada. Also the remaining children of Frederick Thomas Newman and Helen (Nellie)Newman. The information on this website is only available to those who have access to the password and this is only given to family members and to protect the privacy of our family I would like to think that everyone will keep there access details as private.

How did this come about? Since 2004 and every two years since, six of the female cousins of the above Newman family; Margaret Murray, Elaine Peller, Judith Armstrong, Lesley Rocchi, Dianne Stracey and Lesley Griffin, came together firstly at Blairgowrie on the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. We then next met in 2006 at Scarborough, Perth, Western Australia. In 2008 we met in Melbourne.

It was decided at the last gathering that we would expand this out to all cousins male and female plus partners for 2010. Why did we do this? Sadly this year we lost one of our cousins John Frederick Newman passed away on 10 Apr 2008. It was sad that many of us had not seen John in a very long time so a decision was made to bring us all together and not let this happen again.

Our parents left us a legacy of communication. This communication happened on a very regular basis even though the family were very scattered. As they became older one would think that this would slow down, but it didn't, and that is why this family now has the opportunity to keep this going and pass this wonderful legacy onto our individual families in the hope they will come together from time to time.

I remember in 1997 putting a request into the Sun Herald looking for a connection to the Stroud Family. It is with deep regret that I was unable to follow this up and take my mum to see them.. Mum was 19 when her mum died and her sisters were younger so they missed that time when family might ask their parents the details that one passes onto their own family. There were two elderly sisters of that family with minds as sharp as tacks who knew a lot about Helen (Nellie) Newman. It would have been just so special for Mum to hear about her mothers life. It is important to the family connection to keep in touch. There are members of the Newman Family who live in Melbourne (and I guess other places) that are as closely connected as second cousins and we don't know them nor are we likely to unless someone or a group of people take up the opportunity to bring them together.

Finding the Newman ancestors has been the most difficult task and there is still a long way to go. Occasionally I am encouraged by a new link but it does not happen often unfortunately. If anyone has some information or would like to assist in tracking down this frustratingly elusive family please let me know.

My favourite quotes:

"So much of what is best in us is bound up in our love of family, that it remains the measure of our stability because it measures our sense of loyalty. All other pacts of love or fear derive from it and are modeled upon it. by: Haniel Long

“A mothers love is an unrivalled force of nature” Unknown

"Age is a matter of feeling, not of years". by: Washington Irving

"We all grow up with the weight of history on us. Our ancestors dwell in the attics of our brains as they do in the spiraling chains of knowledge hidden in every cell of our bodies." by Shirley Abbott

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
